About Josh Schwerin
Josh Schwerin has spent the last thirteen years working at the highest levels of American politics and government.
Prior to founding Saratoga Strategies, Schwerin was Senior Strategist and Communications Director at Priorities USA, the largest Super PAC supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the 2020 election. In that role, Schwerin worked with the national political press corps on a daily basis. He was quoted in every major news outlet and appeared on Fox News, MSNBC and CNN dozens of times. Behind the scenes, Schwerin was one of the architects of the Democratic message against Donald Trump, authoring regular polling memos for partners and press while helping to craft the message and strategy behind Priorities’ $150 million paid media campaign.
In 2016, Schwerin served as National Spokesperson for Hillary for America where his responsibilities included rapid response and defusing complicated incoming stories on sensitive issues from the press and Republican opponents.
Additionally, Schwerin served first as Terry McAuliffe’s Press Secretary during his 2013 gubernatorial campaign in Virginia, and then as Senior Advisor to Gov. McAuliffe throughout the final year of his time in office, advising him on political and communications strategy.
Schwerin spent the 2012 and 2014 cycles at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee advising more than 25 congressional campaigns and working with the Chairman to set the national narrative around House races. He was also Communications Director in the office of Congressman Scott Murphy, giving him perspective on the official side of Washington to complement extensive campaign experience.
Schwerin got his start in politics as a field organizer for his hometown congresswoman, now Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
